“Those who have no record of what their forebears have accomplished lose the inspiration which comes from the teaching of biography and history.”

The 1st Annual Blackwell Family Reunion

(A Historical Account)

In September of 2004 a chapter of the Blackwell family was closed forever with the passing of Betty Blackwell.  Afterward, her four children decided to make more of an effort to get together, which became increasingly difficult due to work, busy schedules, and living in three different states (Pittsburgh, Maine and Virginia).

In early 2006, Charletha Blackwell, Betty Blackwell’s daughter, had an idea.  A way to celebrate Betty Blackwell’s life and honor her commitment and dedication to faith, family, unity, and love. Something that would have the potential to create and maybe even inspire a lasting legacy.  She reached out to her siblings and other family members with organizational plans and in June of 2006 (Betty's birth month) the first annual Blackwell Family Reunion became a reality.
